 Among the many acres of land entrusted to the care of The Land Trust you will find large tracts 
dedicated to recreational use.  Please take time to visit our various properties 
and experience the unique trails and treasures they provide.

For everyone's benefit and safety, please adhere to our simple land use rules so that we may continue providing a positive outdoor experience to all.

* All properties open sunrise to sunset.
* Stay on marked trails.         * No fires. 
* Please leave no trace - carry out what you carry in.
   * Dogs must remain on leashes.  Use plastic bags for cleanup. 
When participating in guided hikes, please remember that not everyone may be comfortable around your pet.  Dogs should be well behaved or left at home.  
* No climbing or rappelling.
        * No camping or hunting.           * No motorized vehicles.
* No digging or removing plants.

Monte Sano Mountain Preserve  1,091 Acres
Hiking, Mountain Biking, Picnicking at the Pavilion (Call the office to reserve the Pavilion.)

DIRECTIONSTo Land Trust Parking lot on Bankhead Parkway...east on University Drive (Hwy. 72),
which becomes Pratt, then becomes Bankhead Parkway.  Continue on Bankhead until you pass Toll Gate Road. 
The parking lot is app. ½ mile on the right and is marked with a stone marker.  Bollard barriers are at the South end. 
The Picnic Pavilion may be reserved by calling 534-5263.

DIRECTIONS:  Governor’s Drive to Monte Sano Blvd. at crest.  South Monte Sano Trailhead
(look for historic marker) is across from the entrance to Burritt on the Mountain Museum.

 

Wade Mountain Preserve  820.84 Acres

DIRECTIONSNorth on Memorial Parkway past Alabama A & M University.  
Turn left onto Hollow Road (first road north of Winchester Road).  
Turn right on Spraggins Hollow Road.  The Land Trust parking lot on right, just past 
the third 90 degree turn in the road.  Info kiosk in parking lot.
 

Blevins Gap Preserve  971.49 Acres
Hiking, Mountain Biking

DIRECTIONS
: From Memorial Parkway go east on Airport Road; cross over Whitesburg and continue into Jones Valley.  Airport turns into Carl T. Jones Drive.  Go about 4 miles. 
At the Four Mile Post/Cecil B. Ashburn light (Super Target Center is on the right), turn left to go up and over the mountains (essentially to Hampton Cove).  At the top (at Blevins Gap which is between Huntsville and Green Mountains) there is a graveled parking area on the right.  A small Land Trust sign marks the lot.  Access to North Green Mountain trails.

Huntsville Mountain's Fanning Trail: East on Cecil B. Ashburn Drive, left on Donegal (first street past church), then left onto Walsingham to the dead end.  Do not block drive. 

RAINBOW MOUNTAIN TRAILHEAD
Hiking, Mountain Biking, Children's Play Area

DIRECTIONS: West on Hwy. 72 (University); left onto Hughes Road; left onto Thomas Road 
(app. 1.2 miles); left onto Concord; right onto Stoneway Trail up mountain; right at T intersection 
(still on Stoneway Trail) to water tower at mountain top (app. .6 mile).  Info kiosk in parking lot.
Trails are maintained by Madison City Greenways and Trails.
